Newcastle United co-owner Amanda Staveley says they're planning for the January market.

Staveley, who has been flanked by her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi, said the experience of taking over at Newcastle had been "pretty exhausting and exhilarating".

Staveley said the new owners had a "robust business plan" and were seeking to invest in all areas of the club, including the playing squad in the January transfer window.

The managing director said: "It's not a window that we would ordinarily want to invest in because you don't get the right deals but that is something which is important, and we are preparing for that.

"We don't want to let anyone down. One of the things I want to do is be able to communicate with fans that if we do make mistakes, we will quickly own up to them and put them right."
