Xavi admits there's frustration, however, with round 16 qualification still to be clinched.
He said, "We missed an opportunity there but we just have to keep going – there's another opportunity coming up in Munich and we just have to take it.
"Benfica came for a nil-nil. They knew how to play for it, that's a big reason for why we didn't score. The vital thing is that we generated chances. It's a matter of time before the chances go in.
"I want pride and enjoyment around the squad and in the training. That's how I lived my playing life: it's favourable if players aren't bored, if they are light hearted – I'm a guy who's upbeat, I like a joke but it's all designed to make us play better, to win. And tonight I'm hugely proud of the way the team played."
