Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders admits he wants to take a top manager's job.
Lijnders at just 38 has built a huge reputation within the game, and has progressed to become assistant manager with the Reds, even taking press conferences for the EFL Cup games.
And speaking before the quarter-final showdown with Leicester, he admitted that his plan has always been to progress to the very top of his progression.
“That's the plan, it is the plan yeah," he said when asked if he still wants to become a manager.
"You asked management, and Jurgen knows this. But this is not the time to speak about these things, because I have a contract to 2024, and we are in the middle of this project this beautiful project.
“When the time comes I will sit down with my management and I will see the options I have, and after that we will decide. So. Definitely, that's the plan."
He would seem a natural to succeed Klopp if the German coach does decide to step down when his contract is up in 2024, but Lijnders refused to be drawn.
“Liverpool manager? I just responded to that, this is not the moment to speak about these things," he said.
“I will sit down with my management in 2024 and then we will see all the options that are on the table."
