Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has sought explain Moussa Djenepo's disappearance from the first team.
The Mali international has not played for the St Mary's side since October's Carabao Cup fourth round tie at Chelsea – and has not featured in the past seven Premier League games.
His manager commented: “It was at first he had a private problem, so that was the reason why we took him out.
“After this, there was not really a big issue but to find the rhythm back on the pitch – I think it took a little bit.
“He is at the moment training with the team. He didn't get a chance to play now – we have a lot of duels in the 10 position.
“We have five players there, Nathan Tella did a good job in the last games, Moi Elyounoussi is there.
“Even Stuey Armstrong is at the moment not part of the squad, so we have a lot of opportunities on this position.
“It's maybe the hardest position in the squad to find a way in the first XI, so it's not easy to go there."
