Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has added at least eight Chelsea academy players into his training squad.

The Blues are preparing to take on Brentford in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Despite being ravaged by COVID-19 positive cases in the squad, Chelsea had to play out a 0-0 draw with Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday.

Tuchel may have wanted a Carabao Cup postponement, but their wish was not granted.

The EFL stated on Monday that games would be happening "where it is safe to do so, and the set squad criteria can be fulfilled by clubs."

The academy players involved in training for Chelsea included Harvey Vale, Josh Brooking, Alfie Gilchrist, Dion Rankine, Xavier Simons, Joe Haigh, Jay Wareham and Lewis Hall.
