Many Arsenal players were unhappy with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang replacing Granit Xhaka as captain, it has been revealed.

Aubameyang's captaincy is under threat after he was left out of the Gunners' squad against Southampton on Saturday due to a disciplinary breach.

Aubameyang was made skipper under Unai Emery in September 2019 after Granit Xhaka was stripped of the captaincy.

But the Athletic reports multiple Arsenal stars were reportedly not happy about the decision and feel Xhaka was treated unfairly.

A number of his teammates believed he was 'thrown under the bus'.

The report also stated that various players felt his affiliation with YouTube channel AFTV (formerly known as ArsenalFanTV) was a way of getting himself out of the firing line.

Aubameyang is also said to have invited 'Troopz,' who frequently appears on AFTV, to attend matches from his executive box.
