
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah registered 156 new Covid-19 cases, Tuesday, bringing the State’s total to 238,824.
State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, who is also Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson, said of the new cases, two were detected from cluster screenings, 65 from symptomatic screenings, 71 from contact screenings, while 18 from other screenings.
Kota Kinabalu was again at the top with 28 cases followed by Penampang (19), Tuaran (18), Kota Belud (15), Sandakan (13) and Papar (11).
“All other districts recorded single-digit new cases, including nine districts with each having one case. Keningau, Pitas and Kalabakan did not register any additional case,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.
Some 150 of the 156 new cases are categorised under Category 1 and 2, and three cases in Category 3, no patient in Category 4 and a patient in Category 5, while two others are still under further observation by the Health Ministry.
The State also recorded 280 recoveries (cumulatively 230,666), and two fatalities in Kota Kinabalu.
“Some 800 patients are still
undergoing treatment – 422 in hospitals, 371 in public quarantine and low-risk treatment centres (PKRC), six in temporary detention centres/prisons, and one in a private facility.”
“The number of patients needing critical care is 42 – 39 in ICU/repurposed critical care and three in open wards, and 11 are on ventilators.
“Meanwhile, the number of Stage 4 and 5 patients who have not completed their vaccination is 23.”
Based on Tuesday’s daily statistics, the Covid-19 infectivity rate for the country is 0.91, while for Sabah is 0.84.
