Liverpool defender Nat Phillips was delighted to be part of last night's Champions League win at AC Milan.

The 24-year-old centre-back was an impressive performer and wowed in the second half with a Cruyff turn inside his own area that befuddled Milan duo Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Franck Kessie.

And asked it if it was a pretty special moment, Phillips said: "Yeah, it was. I'll have to watch it back when I get the chance!

"There was no real thought process behind it, to be honest. It was just instinct and thankfully it paid off.

"I'm looking forward to watching that back."

When told the clip could go viral on social media, he added: "If it is, then I'll have to get hold of it and send it round!"

The fierce competition for places at centre-back has prompted Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to admit the defender could leave during the transfer window next month.

"All I can do is apply myself as much as I possibly can in training, develop myself as much as possible," said Phillips to liverpoolfc.com.

"I feel as though I'm seeing those developments over the last few seasons. Obviously I want to be playing as much as possible but the competition is really difficult, I have to be ready when called upon.

"I feel like I put myself in good stead against Milan, it was tough towards the end and I did get a bit fatigued but that's going to happen when you play your first 90 minutes in a long time."
