Salernitana are facing an internal Serie A push to kick them out of Serie A - immediately.

Former Fiorentina director Sandro Mencucci has claimed Inter chief Beppe Marotta is among those demanding Salernitana be expelled from the competition.

The Serie A minnows are set to miss a January 1 deadline to find a new buyer after being placed in a blind trust upon their promotion. Lazio and Salernitana are both owned by Claudio Lotito.

Mencucci is quoted by L'Interista stating, “It is my understanding that the Lega Serie A are now pushing for their expulsion, with this idea having been proposed by Beppe Marotta."

Meanwhile, Lotito is continuing attempts to find a buyer for Salernitana.
