In the last week, the badminton players’ resignations shocked the nation and things quickly turned sour when Badminton Association Malaysia (BAM) issued a 2-year ban on both Lee Zii Jia and Goh Jin Wei.

There was no statement on Lee Zii Jia’s end yet but 2-time World Junior Championship gold medallist, Goh Jin Wei has uploaded a short video of her shedding light on the situation.

The 22-year-old starts off by thanking everyone for their love & support and stating that she will fight to regain her rights.

She then listed out a few things that she wanted to share with the 1st being that her resignation was actually accepted in September of 2021.

“There was no objection for so long, why is it only an issue now?”

The 2nd thing is that Goh was able to register for India Open and BAM was the one who confirmed her entry into the tournament.

She added that due to her respect for the national body, she allowed them to pull her name out of the tournaments first before she sit down with the management to discuss her plans.

“But how was I able to register for the events? It means I actually have the rights to play and am not breaching any policies.”

Moving on, she touched on the 2-year ban: “By refusing to register me in any international tournaments, you are banning me and this will affect my livelihood“.

“Badminton is my only skill set and it’s my job, how am I going to survive then?”

The shuttler said that she has a condition that did not permit her to give a 100% full commitment as she is taking medication that gives her side effects.

“Everyone including my ex-teammates, coaches and the management in the national team knows that I want to train at my own pace while monitoring my health condition.”

“No one knows how much I am bearing the side effects from the medication that I am taking daily other than my family and I.”

Goh then expressed her confusion and asked what she did wrong that she had to face a 2-year ban from international tournaments when she is doing her best for Malaysia.
