Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel gave his players the day off on Thursday and Saul used the time to fly to Madrid and see his teammates.
Saúl was seen speaking with his former teammates at Cerro del Espino and also with fans as he left the training base.
The Spain midfielder is on a straight loan with Chelsea without a permanent option.
Saul's contract with Atletico runs to 2026.
