The Ministry of Health (MoH) s looking into the need for a second booster dose following the increased presence of the Covid-19 Omicron variant globally.

Out of 4,000 Newswav users who responded to the poll asking, “If you are a Sinovac recipient, are you prepared to take a second booster shot as the MoH is studying the need for it?” 44.78% said they would take it for its effectiveness. 43.31% of users said it is “not necessary,” while another 11.91% are unsure as of January 12, 2021.

This comes after a study by Yale University found that two doses of Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccine followed by a booster Pfizer-BioNTech shot still produced a lower immune response against the highly infectious Omicron variant when compared with other variants.

52% of Sinovac recipients here have taken their booster jabs, 90% were administered with Pfizer.
