As Chinese New Year is coming up soon, quite a number of Malaysians would be planning to travel back to their hometowns to see their families, according to our poll asking “Are you planning to interstate travel this coming Chinese New Year?”
In the survey with 5,100 respondents, 39.75% are looking forward to seeing their families across different states for CNY.
However, a slightly larger 44.08% of respondents indicated that they will choose to stay at home, citing Covid-19 concerns. The remaining 16.17% are unsure and still contemplating if they should cross states for the celebrations.
There’s good news, though. If you missed it, this year’s list of standard operating procedures, or SOPs, for Chinese New Year is less strict than the year before. There are no limits as to the number of family members for reunion dinners, lion dance performances will commence, and friends and family may gather in merriment, among others.
Whether you travel interstate or plan to celebrate with loved ones at home, may your Year of the Tiger be filled with joy and prosperity.
