BAM lifts ban on Zii Jia and Jin Wei

KUALA LUMPUR – The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has agreed to allow both Lee Zii Jia and Goh Jin Wei to compete in all international events.

In a statement released by the national body, they say have taken into consideration the appeals made by both players as per official procedures before reaching the decision to release them from their respective contracts with BAM according to mutually agreed terms and conditions.

“Both players will be eligible to register for international tournaments with immediate effect,” said BAM.

“The decision was conveyed to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and the Patron of BAM, Datin Seri Muhaini Zainal Abidin by BAM President Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria today.

“The BAM would like to record sincere appreciation to the PM and Patron for their interest in the matter as well as their concerns,” it said in the statement.

BAM also thanked Zii Jia and Jin Wei for their dedication and commitment to the country and wishes them all the best in their future endeavours.

Earlier, the national body handed Zii Jia and Jin Wei with a two-year ban for breaching the contract, which did not sit well with Malaysian badminton fans as they slammed the BAM on social media.
However, on January 24, Zii Jia submitted his appeal letter, Jin Wei sent in hers yesterday. - The Vibes, January 27, 2022
