Kota Kinabalu: Eighteen Sabahans are set to represent the state in a national surfing competition to be held in Pahang.
The 18 will compete in five categories, namely the Men's Open, Women's Open, Grom, Women's Longboard and Men's Longboard, said the Sabah State Surfing Association in a statement today.
Although the Covid-19 pandemic presents a different challenge to the athletes' training and tournament exposure, the association said it has always taken the initiative to ensure that surfers are at a competitive level.
"Sabah surfers have prepared well by undergoing the prescribed training module," said the association.
"At the same time, the Sabah surfing team helps the Malaysian Surfing Association select surfers to represent the nation at international competitions."
