Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded a lower daily Covid-19 case count at 161 today but almost a quarter of those were children who had not qualified for vaccination, prompting reminders to parents to take care not to bring the virus home.

An update shared by Sabah's spokesman for the crisis, Datuk Masidi Manjun, said 31 of the new cases or 19.2 percent were children below 12.

"Parents and adult family members are urged to be vigilant against infections and bringing the virus home," the update advised.

"As of Jan 9, Sabah's infectivity rate or RO/RT increased to 1.07, [higher than] the national average of 0.98."

Today's caseload was 37 cases fewer than yesterday.
