Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne is a step closer to joining Toronto FC.

Insigne is off contract in June and unhappy with the new terms offered by Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis.

Corriere dello Sport reports Insigne has agreed a five-year contract with Toronto worth €15.5m gross per season including add-ons, which works out to €7.75m net per season. Other benefits include a house, car and flights.

De Laurentiis, meanwhile, offered Insigne a four-year contract worth €3.5m net per season plus €1m in bonuses, lower than what he currently earns.
