
PENAMPANG: A suspect in a fatal stabbing case outside an entertainment outlet here 10 days ago has been arrested in Limbang, Sarawak.
The 34-year-old was picked up in a joint operation by Penampang and Limbang police at a hotel, around 11pm, on Thursday.
Penampang District Police Chief DSP Mohd Haris Ibrahim (inset pic) said the suspect, identified as Kaw Yung Chee, was allegedly involved in a murder case and investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
“The suspect will be brought to the Penampang police headquarters for further investigations,” he said when contacted on Friday.
A 29-year-old man died some four hours after being stabbed outside the entertainment outlet in Penampang Baru, at 3am, on Jan 4, this year.
Haris was reported saying that the victim died at Hospital Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) while receiving treatment.
The suspect is believed to have stabbed the victim behind the entertainment outlet.
The incident was captured on the outlet’s closed circuit television.
Police were dispatched to the location after being notified at 3.26am.
