Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick had no problems with Cristiano Ronaldo's response to being substituted against Brentford.

The 36-year-old was visibly angry with Rangnick after being replaced by Harry Maguire, despite United being ahead 3-0.

Ronaldo threw his jacket on the ground and was caught by television cameras complaining about the decision as he sat on the steps.

Asked about Ronaldo's reaction, Rangnick told BT Sport: “That is normal - a striker wants to score - but he has come back from a little injury and it was important to remember we have got another game coming up.

"Also after what happened at Villa Park, we had to defend the lead this time and it was important that we went back to a back five and while we didn't keep the clean sheet it was important to make sure nothing else happened."

Another substitute, Marcus Rashford, made it 3-0 before Ivan Toney pulled one back for Brentford as the game finished 3-1.
