Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz is out of the Super Cup due to injury.

Maiano is set to spend a short while on the sidelines and will miss the forthcoming Spanish Super Cup after sustaining a muscle tear injury.

The 28-year-old was in Real Madrid's starting XI for Wednesday's Copa del Rey tie againt Alcoyano - his second appearance for the first team this season.

But he was unable to complete the game. On 48 minutes, he pulled up while chasing a ball near the Alcoyano box and left the field clutching the back of his left leg.

Before Wednesday's Cup tie in Alcoy, Mariano had featured just once this season - he came on the first the final quarter hour of Real Madrid's meeting with Inter Milan in Matchday 6 of the Champions League.
