Kota Kinabalu: The Covid-19 situation in Sabah is showing a positive stabilising trend, with just 118 new cases detected on Monday.
Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the number showed a decrease of 54 compared to Sunday’s 172 cases.
“The overall situation appears to be getting much better. Only five districts recorded double-digit numbers, with Kota Kinabalu topping the list with 17 cases (- 14), Papar 15 (-6), Tuaran 15 (+4), Penampang 13 (-4) and Sandakan 12 (-5), Ranau two (-19) and Beaufort eight (-11),”he said.
He said the formation of new clusters over time has a big impact on the number of daily Covid-19 cases in Sabah.
“A responsible community attitude, such as strictly following all standard operating procedures (SOPs), is important to keeping the number of new Covid cases in Sabah low.
“In our State’s attempts to combat the spread of Covid-19, all residents play a role as ‘frontline’ workers,” said Masidi.
Meanwhile, 114 of the 118 new cases on Monday were in Categories One and Two. There were two cases each in Category Three and Category Four, while there were no patients in Category Five.
No new clusters were recorded on Monday. However, two deaths were recorded in Kota Kinabalu.
A total of 192 Covid-19 patients were discharged on Monday, while 355 remained hospitalised, 315 are detained at low-risk quarantine centres and four at temporary detention centres/prisons.
Nineteen patients are under intensive care, while nine require ventilated assistance. Fourteen patients in Stage Four and Five are those who have yet to complete their vaccines.
