Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp only wants to sign players this month if they have a long-term future at the club.

Reds supporters have been calling on the club to bring in reinforcements after Mohamed Salah, Naby Keita and Sadio Mane departed for the African Cup of Nations last week.

But Klopp is refusing to sign players for the sake of it as they must fit into the club's future.

That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who said of the situation: "Jurgen Klopp wants new signings only if they are quality players, useful for the future of the project and not just for 6 months. That is why Liverpool are not expected to sign big names in January."

The Merseyside giants are currently 11 points behind league leaders Manchester City, although they possess a game in hand.
