TAWAU: A man was reported to have died while hiking at Bukit Pancang, here, on Saturday. He was identified as Shang Yun Fui, 43.
Tawau Fire and Rescue Station Chief Julius John Stephen Jr said rescuers were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call via MERS 999 at 2.50 pm.
He said they were first informed that a man had passed out while hiking and that the rescue team had been called to help lift the victim. The rescue team, along with officials from the Ministry of Health, went to the three-km long location and discovered the man dead.
He said the team used a stretcher to bring the body down before handing the remains over to the police for further action.
