Liverpool hero John Aldridge has questioned the relationship between manager Jurgen Klopp and Takumi Minamino.

Aldridge wrote for the Liverpool Echo: "As for Minamino, who scored the third goal of the game against Brentford, his role within the side is not particularly clear.

"He has played more games against the so-called lesser sides in the cups this season and if you look at his goals-per-minute ratio, it's actually pretty good.

"But the main question is: where does he fit in this Liverpool team?

"Minamino is not going to play down the middle. When you play two solid midfield players, he could have a bit of a free role.

"I don't really see him as a winger and I don't think he's suited as the out-and-out forward. What I would say, though, is that he always gets himself into good situations in the box and looks likely when on the pitch.

"It is unfortunate that his miss against Arsenal could cost us a place at Wembley, but we've all missed those. He has scored nearly every game he has played in this year, but whether he is good enough for us going forward... I'm not sure.

"We haven't seen much of him on a consistent basis, and that might tell you something about what his rapport is like with the manager."
