Newcastle United are in danger of losing out on their first-choice centre-back Fabian Schar.
The Magpies are planning a spending spree in the summer if they avoid relegation.
However, they will not want to lose 30-year-old Schar, who has been a rock at the back this season.
The Daily Mail reports that manager Eddie Howe is a huge admirer of the player, and wants him to stay for next term.
However, Schar is out of contract in the summer, and there is no suggestion he will renew with Newcastle.
