Brighton striker Neal Maupay paid tribute to the staff after victory over Watford.

The striker scored his 26th top-flight goal as he sent the Seagulls towards a 2-0 win at Watford on Saturday.

Maupay told BBC Radio Sussex: “Last week we played Tottenham and it was such a tough game for me.

“I didn't feel good on the pitch and I thought I was probably the worst player in the team.

“But the one week later the gaffer told me, 'Listen, I need you, we all need you, you will do well, just go out there and play your game'.

“For a striker, for a player, that is such a good feeling to know that everyone is supporting me and behind me.

“That is why I have been able to play a good game and score a good goal."

Maupay, who is now on eight league goals for the season from 18 starts, believes the best is yet to come.

He added: “I work on my game every single day.

“I watch a lot of videos with the coaching staff.

“I know what I can improve.

“But I have to say the coaching staff, the manager and my team-mates believe in me.

“That gives me so much confidence."
