Kota Kinabalu: A woman was arrested after a tense 90-minute police chase that saw the Toyota Hilux she was driving ramming into several vehicles including a postman's motorcycle around Tg. Lipat, near here, this morning.

Deputy City Police Chief Supt. George Abdul Rakaman, when contacted, said the 35-year-old suspected drug addict was apprehended before noon near the Tebobon traffic light, Jalan Sepanggar, after pursuing policemen fired several shots at a tyre of the vehicle that was reportedly stolen.

He said the Kota Kinabalu police received a call from the public informing that the stolen car was seen near the market on Jalan Tun Fuad, here, which led to the hot pursuit.

“Police located the vehicle, however upon approaching, the suspect who had been instructed to stop, refused and accelerated the vehicle intending to escape.

"A policeman suffered injuries to his left arm as he hit the back of the car and almost fell after the suspect backed the vehicle she was driving to escape," he said, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 307 for attempted murder.
