Feyenoord chief Frank Arnesen admits they tried for Christian Eriksen this past month.
The Dane signed for Brentford last week after his release from Inter Milan earlier this season.
Arnesen revealed: "I called his father.
"But it was mostly to make sure we did not miss an opportunity, because of course it was difficult right from the start.
"He is a real Ajax boy."
