Pawe ups healthy lifestyle among seniors

Kota Kinabalu: The establishment of a Senior Citizens Activity Centre (Pawe) is able to increase healthy lifestyle among senior citizens in the state.

State Community Development and People’s Welbeing MInister Datuk Ir. Shahelmey Yahya said the centre is also seen as an opportunity for the group to be active in community activities and enjoy quality of life.

He said various programmes and activities that have been carried out should be fully used to ensure that senior citizens live a better and healthier.

“We call on all Pawe members at Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) or other districts in Sabah to be actively involved in organised activities to stay healthy, active and productive.

“I hope the programmes organised by Pawe such as religious programmes, recreation, therapy and rehabilitation, courses and training as well as talks will be beneficial to Pawe members” he said when officiating at the Pawe UTC Chinese New Year at Wisma UTC , here on Thursday.

He also expressed hope that Pawe will provide good services to its members to ensure their wellbeing and development.

Also present were Social Services Welfare Department (JPKA) Sabah director Jais Asri, UTC Pawe Chair Wong Hoong Shyn and UTC Kota Kinabalu Management head David George.
