Manchester City have sent scouts to watch Nicolas Fernandez Mercau.
The 22-year-old left back, who plays for San Lorenzo in Argentina, but has stood out this season.
He has played 24 games in all competitions since his debut for the club last year, and has managed two goals for the first team.
Mercau can also play as a left midfielder, and such versatility will appeal to City boss Pep Guardiola.
According to TNT Sports, City are looking to add Mercau to their squad for next season, having signed Julian Alvarez last month.
