“Congratulations! Datuk. Para athlete Abdul Latif Romly received the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (P.M.W) award which caries the title of ‘Datuk’,” NSC shared on their Facebook page.

Latif, who competes in the long jump category, became the first Malaysian in 2021 to defend his Paralympic title in the men’s long jump (F20) event with an astounding leap of 7.45m.

This came after his record-breaking 7.43m leap, which saw him defend his T20 long jump gold medal at the 2015 Para Asean Games in Singapore.

During the 2016 Rio Paralympics Games, Latif broke his own record thrice on the same day − giving Malaysia it’s third gold medal at the sporting event.
