Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster says they can be happy with their 0-0 draw at Burnley.

Returning to the starting XI after missing defeat to Norwich through illness, Foster made several important stops to deny the Clarets' attack and hopes it is a sign of things to come with Hodgson at the helm.

“It was a bit of a nervy game, you could tell we were both battling for our lives," said Foster, 38.

“The quality wasn't there at times today. Everybody was on tenterhooks and didn't feel comfortable trying today, especially in the conditions, it was brutal out there! It won't live long in the memory.

“It's always nice to keep a clean sheet, that's a building block. If you can start from there and get a clean sheet every few weeks you're going to start picking up points and that's what Roy brings. He brings stability, he will set you up in a shape that will be hard to break down and hopefully we can get a bit of quality in front of goal and score."
