The Liverpool Echo says Ashley Cole is ready to join Frank Lampard at Everton - as the club prime Cahill for a 'part-time' role.
Former England full-back Cole is moving closer to becoming the latest member of Lampard's backroom staff at Goodison, following the 43-year-old's appointment on Monday.
Cole is Chelsea's under-16 coach but is now expected to join his former team-mate, who has already brought Paul Clement, Joe Edwards and Chris Jones with him.
Cahill, meanwhile, is being lined up for a formal role at Everton having advised Farhad Moshiri during the club's recent managerial search.
