Former Porto defender Jorge Costa says Jose Mourinho is the right coach for AS Roma.
There has been criticism from the likes of Fabio Capello over Mourinho's management of his players this season.
But Costa, who won the Champions League with Porto under Mourinho, told Il Corriere dello Sport: "Mourinho is the right man for any team. I know him well, he is still the best coach in the world.
"Do you think that Porto in 2003 was a high-level team? In two years José made us win the Europa League and the Champions League, enhancing a group of boys who had quality but no international experience.
"I see similarities with the path he is starting in Rome. If he has accepted the challenge of Roma, it means that slowly he will be able to obtain results there too. When he no longer feels up to an important role, it will be José the first to step aside."
