Liverpool are scouting Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn this season.
The Sunday Mirror says Reds boss Jurgen Klopp could make a move for the Scotland international in the summer, but Villa are already preparing a new and improved contract.
The Reds have been linked with the 27-year-old previously, as the Liverpool boss was impressed by the player.
However, Villa's valuation of £50 million turned them off at the time.
Liverpool remain keen and will be watching McGinn for the remainder of the season with the aim of a summer move.
