RM20,000 building materials for fire victims in Kudat

THE owners of 120 houses destroyed in a

recent fire in Kampung Landung Ayang, Kudat, will receive a special allocation of RM2.4 million from the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) State Government to rebuild their homes.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor said each of the families will receive RM20,000 in the form of building materials.

“I hope the assistance can ease the burden faced by all the fire victims.

“The assistance shows the State Government cares and is together with the people affected by disasters or hardships,” he said when meeting the victims who have been temporarily sheltered at a relief centre (PPS) at Dewan Tun Mustapha, Kudat.

Hajiji also said the victims were allowed to rebuild their homes on the existing site under the supervision of the Kudat Town Board, so that it would be orderly.

Representing the State Government, he expressed sympathy and hoped that they would continue to persevere and be patient.

He said the State Government would also help people affected by any disaster or hardship throughout the State, regardless of religion, race or political inclination.

Earlier, Hajiji also presented a financial contribution of RM500 to 176 heads of household (KIR, who each received gas stove sets from the Welfare Services Department.
