World Cup winner Luca Toni says Inter Milan can be proud of their performance in defeat to Liverpool last night.
The Reds won the first-leg of their Champions League round 16 tie 2-0 in Italy.
Toni said, "In my opinion, Inter had a great match and (Simone) Inzaghi must be happy because this team has returned to be competitive in Europe.
"He played on par, if not better than Liverpool. I had never seen an Inter like this before, the Inter full-backs went on their full-backs.
"They played a really great game, sorry for the result but they have to restart from this match: Inter is returning and can have its say in Europe."
