Inter Milan Treble winner Marco Materazzi insists they were the better team in last night's 2-0 Champions League defeat.
Materazzi is adamant the loss was undeserved.
He told Inter TV: “Inter played the match. A bitter taste remains in the mouth for having lost a match lost due to two shots at goal.
"There was also bad luck on the crossbar. We knew Liverpool would be aggressive and good at closing you down and then hurting you. This is football. It hurts but Inter have certainly shown that they are on par with the Reds. A demonstration of strength and character that must be an excellent encouragement for the championship.
"I think that Inter today cannot be blamed for anything. Whoever went on the pitch gave everything. Only the goal was really missing. The performance was there and this must give strength: I understand the bitterness but there is nothing more to say.
"Now in Liverpool, we'll see what happens. Anything could happen. The best? Perisic, Bastoni and Calhanoglu."
