Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is delighted with the early impact of Dan Burn.
Burn will face former club Brighton tomorrow at St James' Park.
The boyhood Newcastle fan, who was released by the club as a youngster, has helped toughen up the Magpies backline in recent weeks.
"He's a great lad and has mixed well with the team," said Howe.
"He's got the respect of everyone with how he's conducted himself and he's trained very well.
"He had to be patient for a little period but when he got his chance in the team he's performed very strongly."
