Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s caseload continued to dip to 1,235 on Monday from 1,515 the day earlier. However, sporadic infections still remain high at 65.02 per cent, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

“Several districts have continued to record relatively higher cases, including Papar which recorded 141. Papar is also the second highest contributor after Kota Kinabalu, and 72.3 per cent of cases were sporadic.

“A total of 22 out of 27 districts in Sabah recorded a high number of sporadic cases. This factor warrants the need for all levels of society to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) seriously to curb transmission within the community,” said Masidi in a statement, Monday.

Nevertheless, he said 21 districts registered a decrease in cases, with five districts recording a significant decrease, namely Kota Kinabalu (-127), Keningau (-32), Kota Marudu (-31), Kota Belud (-22) and Tawau (-22).

Five deaths were recorded, two in Ranau and one each in Keningau, Kalabakan and Kuala Penyu, while no new clusters were identified.

Masidi said the majority of cases are mild, with 1,221 out of 1,235 cases being category one and two infections.

“Five cases are in category three, five in category four and four in category five,” he added.

Some 3,494 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital while 1,313 patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, low risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRCs), prisons/temporary detention centres and private facilities.

On Sabah’s immunisation programme, Masidi said 10,041 individuals were vaccinated on March 6, of which 8,365 were adults while 90 were teenagers and 1,591 were children.

As of March 6, he said, a total of 2,414,319 individuals have completed both doses, of which 77.32 per cent were adults, while 2,520,581 have gotten their first dose, of which 78.04 per cent were adults.

Masidi added that a total of 339,328 teenagers have received their first dose, while 313,856 have completed both doses, which is 73.64 per cent of the teenage population. A total of 62,851 children have received their first dose.
