Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s new daily Covid-19 cases dropped below the 200 mark on Monday, with 194 reported, a drop of 51 cases compared to Sunday’s 245.

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said Monday’s below 200 cases was the first since Jan 24.

He said Kota Kinabalu, which recorded an increase of 61 cases on Sunday, dropped 42 cases on Monday with only 55 new infections.

He noted that the drop in the number of new cases in Kota Kinabalu is one of the main factors contributing to the lower number of cases for Sabah on Monday.

Five districts recorded double-digit cases, namely Kota Kinabalu (55), Tuaran (26), Papar (18), Sandakan (11) and Tawau (10).

Eighteen districts recorded single-digit cases, while Semporna, Nabawan, Tongod and Kalabakan districts did not record any new infections.

Three clusters were terminated by the State Health Department on Monday, namely the Pengkalan Abai Cluster (Kota Belud), Jalan Beluran Lama Cluster

(Beluran) and Batu Enam Cluster (Kota Belud).

Only four clusters remain active in Sabah.

A total of 187 people or 96.39 per cent of 194 new patients on Monday are in Category 1 and 2. There are three people in Category 3, three people in Category 4 and one patient in Category 5.
