THE Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) partnership that currently manages the State has been officially registered as a political coalition in Sabah, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor.

The GRS Chairman said this when officiating the launch of Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) led by former Parti Warisan Sabah strongman Datuk Peter Anthony, at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), Kota Kinabalu, on Mar 13.

“I received the GRS registration approval certificate last Friday (Mar 11). This registration was made in response to the request made by the people who want to see GRS move as a legitimate and official political entity as a coalition of parties in Sabah.

“Our intention is to see Sabah continue to prosper with unity and stability that can drive our development agenda.

“There is no suitable time other than now. Let us get rid of negative and trivial politics. Armed with resources and strength, let us together uphold the mandate that the people have given us for the prosperity of Sabah,” he said.

Hajiji also welcomed KDM’s interest and wish to join GRS.

“God willing, I will bring KDM’s application for consideration and approval from the GRS component partners,” he said.

Touching on KDM, Hajiji hoped that the party could be an effective platform for members and target groups it represents and take part in the state and people’s development agenda.

He also appreciated the support shown by Anthony and his party to the GRS Government and their priorities which are fighting for the interests of the state and the people.

“The people have made a decision in the last State Election (PRN) by giving a clear mandate to GRS. Therefore the mandate must be fulfilled by working hard for their benefit.

“I hope with that support, the GRS Government can focus on developing this beloved state and in turn be able to defend the fate of the multiracial people who are still lagging behind,” he said.

Hajiji said political stability and unity are vital to succeed in developing Sabah as a prosperous and developed state.

“We must work together to contribute for the good of our state. Our struggle is not over, we still have a lot to do. Our people are still far behind and still lack all the facilities, even though we have been independent for almost 60 years.

“That is why the GRS Government is focusing on efforts to improve the living standards of the people and develop their economy,” he said.

He said for that purpose, the GRS Government has introduced the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) as a platform to bring Sabah forward with policies and target programmes that bring progress to the state of Sabah, as well as to open many jobs for the people.in various fields and sectors.
