Ajax coach Erik ten Hag has denied claims he is taking English lessons in preparation for taking over at Manchester United.

The Dutchman has been strongly linked with the Old Trafford job as Ralf Rangnick's spell as interim boss will conclude at the end of this season.

A report in the Daily Mail claimed ten Hag was brushing up on his English in anticipation of a move to England.

"No, that's not true!" he told BT Sport ahead of Ajax's clash with Benfica in the Champions League last-16 stage.

"We talk English in the club because we have a lot of foreign players in Holland you get educated in English. So…"

Ten Hag's Ajax were eventually dumped out of the competition after a 1-0 loss to the Portuguese giants.
