TAWAU: An elderly woman was killed when she was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road at Mile 5, Jalan Apas, here, on Wednesday.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the 65-year-old victim died at the scene due to severe injuries following the 7.30pm incident.
He said the male car driver was heading to the city from Kg Ranggu.
“Initial investigations showed the woman abruptly crossed the road, causing the car driver unable to avoid hitting her,” he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
