Liverpool are now just one point behind Premier League leaders Manchester City after a clinical 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates.

Having gone five league games unbeaten, Arsenal started spritely in front of their home supporters, who dreamt of an upset that would've consolidated their top-four spot.

The Gunners should have scored the first goal after Thiago's errand back-pass allowed Martin Odegaard in on goal, but Alisson was quick to deny the Norwegian.

Down the other hand, Aaron Ramsdale should have prevented Diogo Jota from breaking the deadlock.

Jota still had plenty to do after Thiago's defence splitting pass put him through on goal, and Ramsdale should have done better to keep out his shot that beat him at his near post.

Portugal star Jota and Luis Diaz were immediately replaced by Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino, and it proved to be a masterstroke from Jurgen Klopp.

Firmino doubled Liverpool's advantage just after the hour mark with a deft flick from Andy Robertson's cross.

From there, the Reds showed they were proven winners as they took a stranglehold of possession and sucked the life out of Arsenal and the home crowd.

The Merseyside giants have now won nine successive Premier League matches

Arsenal remain in fourth-place with two games in hand over of fifth-placed Manchester United.
