
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah maintained their 40-gold target at this year’s Sukma Games scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur from September 29-October 8.
Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ellron Angin said this at the State Assembly sitting on Wednesday. The biennial Games this year will have 16 compulsory and five optional sports and according to him, Sabah will be taking part in 20 sports as of to date.
However, the final decision on entries will only be made after a meeting next week as 10 more sports will be tabled as optional.
Meanwhile, the sports Sabah are likely to take part in are aquatics, cycling, badminton, football, lawn bowls, gymnastics, hockey, karate, archery, athletics, sailing, pencak silat, squash, tenpin bowling, wushu, weightlifting, muay thai, rugby, sepak takraw and boxing.
