KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit South Sumatera in Indonesia at 8.12 pm.
According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the quake with a depth of 71 kilometers (km) struck 124km north of Siberut.
However, it did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia, the statement said. - Bernama
