
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded a new all-time low of 591 cases on Tuesday. However, sporadic transmissions still remain widespread within the community, with some 63 per cent of cases being symptomatic.
Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said 11 districts recorded a decrease in cases, with Beaufort recording the highest decrease (-30).
“Kota Kinabalu remains the only district with three-digit cases (174). Sixteen districts recorded two-digit cases while eight districts recorded single-digit cases. Tambunan and Tongod did not record any new cases,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.
Papar recorded the second highest number of cases after Kota Kinabalu, followed by Tuaran (46), Penampang (42), Keningau (35), Sandakan (26), Kota Belud (22) and Kuala Penyu (19).
Five deaths were recorded, with one each in Kota Belud, Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Penyu, while no new clusters were identified.
“The State Health Department officially closed three clusters, namely Jalan Bypass Kologon Cluster (Ranau), Simpangan Cluster (Beluran) and Bukit Garam Cluster (Kinabatangan).
“There are 22 active clusters in Sabah to date,” said Masidi.
He said the majority of cases are mild, with 582 out of 591 cases being category one and two infections, which is 98.47 per cent.
“Three cases are in category three, four in category four and two in category five,” he added.
Some 1,391 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital while 809 patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRCs), prisons/temporary detention centres and private facilities.
On Sabah’s immunisation programme, Masidi said 7,940 individuals were vaccinated on March 14, of which 6,301 were adults while 92 were teenagers and 1,547 were children.
As of March 14, he said a total of 2,404,170 individuals have completed both doses, of which 76.87 per cent were adults, while 2,543,496 have gotten their first dose, of which 78.42 per cent were adults.
Masidi added that a total of 332,006 teenagers have received their first dose, while 316,007 have completed both doses, which is 74.15 per cent of the teenage population. A total of 81,047 children have received their first dose.
