Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard admits contract talks for Carney Chukwuemeka have broken down again.
The highly-rated Aston Villa teenager was fully expected to sign a new long-term deal on his 18th birthday back in October but, after being in no rush to do so, wanted assurances over his playing time in the Premier League.
Gerrard was asked if talks have progressed over Chukwuemeka extending his stay beyond 2023, and his response was telling.
Gerrard told Birmingham Live: "No, no.
"As far as I know they haven't progressed. We've done everything we can from our side to try and make them progress. I'm not sure where that's up to at the moment."
