Sporting CP will seek to renew Joao Virginia's loan deal beyond this season.
The 22-year-old moved to the Primeira Liga in the summer for a season long loan, which includes an option to buy.
However, instead of signing the player on a permanent deal, Record reports Sporting hope to extend the temporary agreement.
The report insists this is financial as they would need to pay a reported €5m to Everton to trigger the buy option.
With just seven appearances in all competitions this season, it appears they haven't seen enough just yet to make such a significant investment.
